Welcome to San Francisco Civic Hub Project

What is Civic Hub?

Civic Hub is an information portal for The City and County of San Francisco. This will be a place where government agencies and nonprofits can share information on their programs, services, and various functions. Civic Hub is a not for profit project.

Why do we need new information portal?

San Francisco along has dozens, and if you take special projects, hundreds of websites scattered throughout internet. Often existing pages and websites lack content and are not user friendly, we are about to change all this. We attempt to unify most important content and documents under the same roof for easy search and great user experience. Each participating agency or a project will have an ability to channel their message to the intended audience and help engage recipients. Last but not least, we want to establish a two way communication channel between the government and the community it serves, thus 311 integration will be a very important milestone in this project.

What is the timeline for the project?

The project officially started on May 1st 2019.
Phase I, part 1 - Assemble complete catalogue of all San Francisco agencies along with contact information. Complete.
Phase I, part 2 - Collect basic descriptions of functions and services of respective agencies and related information. Work in progress, estimated time of completion is August 1st 2019.
Phase II - 311 integration. Pending.
Phase III - Small Business Hub launch. Pending.

How do I add my content?

First and foremost you will need to register your organization. You will need to enter the basics like organization name, description, address, and contact information. Then you will need to add functions and services one by one. For this you will need the title of a service, description, and appropriate key words/tags for searchability. You will be able to upload documents as well like applications and brochures. Who is building the portal?

Civic Hub is a collective effort of local government and our community. Project is being overseen by San Francisco Civic Innovation Group. Currently a team of students from Code Tenderloin and fellows from dev/Mission are assisting us in creating this portal. We are very excited to welcome a group of interns from Opportunities For All Initiative who will spend their summer with us.
